Our story: Sarah and Antony
Sarah and Antony's journey began in first grade, growing up together in Cleveland. Their junior year of high school sparked a romance, and many evenings were spent at a local park, dreaming of owning a food truck. Antony pursued psychology at Cleveland State, while Sarah honed her skills at Cuyahoga Community College's culinary program.
When Antony graduated during COVID, he opted out of grad school, and both he and Sarah began working in the restaurant industry. They've gained invaluable experience in many great establishments, but working together has always been their favorite. They are incredibly grateful to Judson for giving them the opportunity to work side-by-side in the same facility, allowing them to develop their skills both together and independently. When asked how they manage to work together, they often say the harder thing would be to not work together.
Our team: A family in the making
At Nicky & Smitty's, we envision a team that feels like family. We've both had the privilege of working in environments where colleagues became extended family, and that's our ultimate goal here. We want to foster an open and supportive atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts and needs.
Our aim is for our staff to be excited to come to work every day. We love to surprise them with extra treats and acknowledge their hard work. Some of our fondest industry memories are of bosses throwing incredible holiday parties for their work families, and we aspire to create those same cherished traditions for our team one day.
Connecting with the local community
Nicky & Smitty's is deeply rooted in the Aurora community, and we are eager to give back to the city that has embraced us. We've always enjoyed participating in fundraiser walks, and it's our hope to get Nicky & Smitty's actively involved in many more community initiatives in the coming years. We believe in strengthening the bonds within our community, one step at a time.
